Molhes da Barra

Long stone jetties at the Atlantic mouth of Lagoa dos Patos, reached from Cassino.

The Molhes da Barra are the stone arms that protect the channel between Lagoa dos Patos and the Atlantic. They make the coast feel engineered as well as wild, with waves, fishing, ships, and the sense of a harbour entrance being held open against the sea.

They work best as part of a Cassino Beach outing. Go for the scale and the maritime atmosphere rather than for a neat monument.
