Oceanographic Museum

University-run marine museum with South Atlantic collections, shells, aquariums, and Antarctic exhibits.

The Oceanographic Museum is Rio Grande's best indoor stop and the clearest expression of the city's relationship with the sea. It belongs to the Federal University of Rio Grande and covers marine ecosystems, molluscs, research equipment, aquariums, and Antarctic science.

It is a good first stop because it makes the lagoon, the port, and the Atlantic coast feel connected rather than separate. Even if the displays are not flashy, the subject matter belongs exactly here.
