Dalcahue is one of the best stops for Chilote food and crafts. The waterfront market sells woollens, baskets, carved wood, and the kind of filling local dishes that make sense in a wet climate.
It is also a useful jumping-off point for Quinchao Island. Even if you do not cross the channel, the market and church make Dalcahue worth a half-day from Castro.
