Chonchi's church anchors one of the island's most attractive small towns, set above the water south of Castro. The building belongs to the UNESCO church tradition, with timber construction and a bright, simple presence on the square.
Chonchi itself is worth a wander for its old houses and views. It makes an easy stop on the way toward Cucao and the national park.
