Parque Ecuador

Long linear park along the foot of Cerro Caracol

Parque Ecuador is a narrow ribbon of green stretching nearly a kilometre along the foot of Cerro Caracol, separating the dense city grid to the north from the wooded hill to the south. It has tree-lined walking paths, monuments, an outdoor gym, and at its eastern end the Galería de la Historia.

The park is the obvious approach to the trails leading up Cerro Caracol, and a pleasant walk in its own right. Lined with old pine and araucaria, it gives the southern edge of central Concepción much of its character. The monument to Pedro de Valdivia, the city's founder, sits roughly at the centre.
