Cruz del Tercer Milenio

Cruz del Tercer Milenio is the giant concrete cross that dominates Coquimbo's skyline. Inside are religious displays and viewpoints, but the building's main impact is from outside, where it turns the hill into a navigational marker.

Even travellers with no interest in religious monuments may want the view. From the top, the bay, La Serena, the port, and the dry coastal hills all line up clearly.

A story
The cross was built for the Jubilee year 2000 and rises 83 metres over Coquimbo. It is not subtle, but port cities have never been shy about landmarks that can be seen from the sea.
