La Herradura is Coquimbo's most accessible beach, set on a sheltered crescent-shaped bay south of the centre. The water is calmer than on more exposed beaches, which makes it popular with families and small boats.
It is not wild or secluded, but it is easy and pleasant. Come when you want a swim without travelling far from the city.
