The drinking life in La Serena is concentrated in two zones: the streets around Calle Eduardo de la Barra in the centre, where students and travellers fill the bars from about 11pm, and the strip along Avenida del Mar, which is louder and more touristy in season. Pisco is the local drink — pisco sour, piscola, or neat — and the bars take it seriously.
