El Barista is the best place in Puerto Varas for a serious cup of coffee. Specialty beans, a proper espresso machine, and a small case of German-style cakes — Schwarzwälder Kirsch, apple strudel, the local berry kuchens — make it the obvious morning stop before heading out for the day.
The setting on Calle del Salvador, a block from the Plaza de Armas, is unassuming. Inside it is cosy and wood-panelled. Open from breakfast through the afternoon, closed in the evening.
