Sotito's

A long-established and slightly formal seafood restaurant near the waterfront, Sotito's is where Punta Arenas locals go for an old-fashioned celebration dinner. The dining room has dark wood, white tablecloths, and the kind of attentive waiters who remember the regulars' wine preferences.

The kitchen is best on classic Patagonian dishes — centolla done several ways, conger eel in a saffron broth, grilled lamb — rather than on contemporary experimentation. Prices are higher than most places in town, but for a special meal it's still the most reliable option of its kind.
