Cathedral of Rancagua

The Catedral de Rancagua stands on the east side of the Plaza de los Héroes. The current building dates from the late 19th century and replaces earlier structures damaged in successive earthquakes. The neoclassical façade is plain, the interior modest — the cathedral is more historically important than visually grand.

Look at the bell tower and the front wall: bullet holes from the 1814 battle are still visible. Mass is held daily; entry outside services is free.
