The Parque Safari, about 20 km north-west of Rancagua on the road to Doñihue, is Chile's only drive-through safari park. Visitors travel in caged trucks through enclosures of lions, tigers, jaguars, and bears, then walk a smaller zoo of giraffes, zebras, and birds.
It is a slightly old-school operation by global standards but the only thing of its kind in Chile, and a reliable hit with children on a long stop between Santiago and the south. Open weekends year-round and daily in school holidays.
