Vitacura

Vitacura is the wealthiest commune in Santiago, a manicured district of expensive restaurants, designer boutiques, and art galleries in the northeastern suburbs. The Parque Bicentenario and the banks of the Mapocho River give it some of the city's best urban green space. It is also where the Andes feel closest — the mountains are visible at the end of almost every street.

The gallery scene in Vitacura is the strongest in the city, with several commercial galleries showing serious contemporary work. The Galería Isabel Aninat, AMS Marlborough, and several others are within walking distance of each other. Avenida Alonso de Córdova is the main restaurant street, though prices reflect the neighbourhood. Vitacura is reached by taxi or bus from the metro; there is no metro station in the commune itself.
