Valdivia has its own small airport (Las Marías, IATA: ZAL) with regular flights to Santiago on LATAM and Sky Airline, taking about 90 minutes. By bus from Santiago, the journey takes 10-12 hours; from Puerto Montt to the south, about 3 hours. The bus terminal is on the edge of the city centre, walkable to most central accommodation.
