The wooden colonial house where Gabriel Eligio García — García Márquez's father — worked as the village telegraph operator and where he courted Luisa Santiaga Márquez against her family's wishes. The courtship was the basis of Love in the Time of Cholera; the building has been restored as a small museum with a working telegraph, period furniture, and family photographs.
A five-minute walk from the Casa Museo and best visited together. Entrance is free or by donation. The custodian will demonstrate the telegraph for visitors who ask.
