Café Havana is Cartagena's most celebrated bar for live music, located on the corner of Calle del Guerrero and Media Luna in Getsemaní. The music starts late — rarely before 10pm — and runs until the early hours, with live salsa and Cuban son bands playing most nights. The dance floor fills up quickly once the band gets going and the place becomes genuinely atmospheric.
Expect to queue on weekend nights and arrive early if you want a table rather than standing room. The drinks are reasonably priced by Cartagena old-city standards, and the rum-based cocktails are solid. The combination of the music, the crowd, and the crumbling Getsemaní setting makes this one of the better nights out in Colombia's Caribbean coast.
