Fuerte de San Sebastián del Pastelillo

Colonial-era fort at the tip of the Manga peninsula

The Fuerte de San Sebastián del Pastelillo is a small 18th-century colonial fort at the tip of the Manga peninsula, looking out over the channel that separates Cartagena's old city from the district of Bocagrande. It was built as part of the defensive system protecting the inner harbour and worked in tandem with the larger fortifications on the city walls.

Today the fort houses the Club de Pesca, an upscale seafood restaurant with tables set in the fort's courtyard and on a terrace overlooking the water. It's one of the more atmospheric settings in Cartagena for dinner, combining historic architecture with fresh Caribbean seafood. The fort exterior can be admired from the waterfront without entering the restaurant.
