Jardín de Rocas is a small reserve in the Río Volcanes canyon, close enough to the main square that you can walk there. Its draw is wonderfully specific: Andean cock-of-the-rock males gather here at a lek, flashing orange-red plumage and making a racket in the trees.
Go late in the afternoon, move quietly, and bring binoculars if you have them. This is one of the easiest places in Colombia to see the species without committing to a remote birding lodge, and it gives Jardín a real nature anchor within the town's own orbit.
