Mompiche is not easy to reach, which is part of what keeps it quiet. The usual route is a bus from Esmeraldas, which takes about two and a half hours on a road that varies from paved to potholed depending on recent rains. From Quito, take a bus to Esmeraldas (six hours) and change there. Coming from the south, you can reach Mompiche via Muisne, though the connection involves a boat crossing and is slower. There is no airport nearby. Shared taxis and pickup trucks cover the final stretch from the main road to the village.
