Sabi Aliba means "know the river" in Bushinengue, and that is what the company sells: pirogue journeys up the Maroni and into the Tapanahoni on the Surinamese side, from a day out to expeditions of a week or more, sleeping in hammocks in the villages.
They work from the esplanade by the landing at Saint-Laurent. Longer trips start around a hundred and thirty euros a day and the rapids are part of the point — the upper river is a staircase of them.
