A non-profit at Yupukari where guests join the black caiman research team on the Rupununi after dark — the animals are caught, measured, tagged and released, and you are part of the crew rather than an audience. It is the only place set up to do this.
Days are for giant anteater and burrowing owl on the savannah, dugout paddling, fishing, and the village artisan studio. Longer stays run out to Mapari Wilderness Camp, where five monkey species, six cats and harpy eagles have been recorded.
Two nights minimum, meals included, surplus going to the village library and conservation work. No phone published; email is the way in.
