Pachachaca Bridge

Colonial stone bridge over the Pachachaca River west of Abancay.

The old bridge over the Pachachaca River is a short excursion west of Abancay and one of the clearer reminders that this valley has long sat on an important Andean route. The setting is rugged, with dry hills, river noise, and the road climbing away toward the Apurimac canyon.

It is a modest stop rather than a headline sight, but it pairs naturally with a drive toward Saywite or Cconoc. For travellers crossing the southern sierra overland, it gives the landscape some historical texture.
