Buses from Huancayo take about four hours, dropping from the high Andes into warmer Chanchamayo country. Services leave from the main bus terminal area on Avenida Ferrocarril.
Road travel from Lima is much longer and usually passes through Tarma. Landslides and rain can affect mountain roads in the wet season, so check locally before setting out.
