Barra del Chuy is the beach settlement southeast of Chuy, where the Arroyo Chuy reaches the Atlantic and Uruguay runs out of coastline. The sand is broad, pale, and windswept, with the Brazilian shore visible across the stream. It feels much less developed than the resort towns farther south.
This is a good place for a walk, a swim in settled weather, or simply to stand at the end of the country. Services are seasonal and modest, so bring what you need outside summer. The beach also makes a useful pause between Chuy and the protected coast around Santa Teresa.
