Chuy sits on Ruta 9, roughly 340 km northeast of Montevideo. Long-distance buses connect it with Montevideo, Rocha, Punta del Este, and Brazilian border services.
For Parque Nacional Santa Teresa, Chuy is the practical northern access town. Local buses and taxis run toward La Coronilla, Barra del Chuy, and the fort, but a car makes the coast and protected areas much easier.
