The Portón de Campo is the old city gate of Colonia del Sacramento, complete with a small drawbridge and the remains of the defensive walls. It is one of the clearest places to understand the fortified Portuguese town that once stood here.
Come through the gate into the Barrio Histórico and continue along Calle de los Suspiros. The gate is a quick stop, but it anchors the best short walk in Colonia.
