Piriapolis Beach

Main town beach on a calm bay, backed by the rambla and old resort buildings.

Piriapolis Beach is the town's front room: a broad curve of sand backed by the Rambla de los Argentinos and the old resort blocks. It is easy, central, and usually calmer in mood than the better-known beaches around Punta del Este.

In summer it fills with Uruguayan families. Out of season, the same waterfront becomes a quiet place for a long walk, with Cerro San Antonio closing the view at one end.
