Salto has a small airport (STY) with occasional connections to Montevideo. Most visitors arrive by bus — the journey from Montevideo takes around 6 hours on comfortable long-distance coaches operated by several companies from the Tres Cruces terminal. There are also international buses to Concordia, Argentina.
The easiest border crossing is the ferry across the Uruguay River to Concordia, operated from Salto's port terminal on the Costanera. The crossing takes about 20 minutes and connects with Argentine bus services into Entre Ríos province and beyond.
