La Castellana sits between Altamira and Chacao — a small, leafy 1940s development around the Plaza La Castellana, planted with big mango and ceiba trees. The neighbourhood became one of the most desirable middle-class addresses in the city and still has the highest concentration of mid-century private houses anywhere in eastern Caracas.
The plaza itself, with the church of San Antonio de Padua at one end, anchors a small grid of cafés and restaurants — quieter than Altamira and Las Mercedes but with a similar feel. The Avenida Principal de La Castellana, running east-west, is among the best streets in Caracas for restaurants in the mid-to-upper price range.
