The yellow colonial house on the corner of the main waterfront — locally known as the Casa Amarilla — was once a customs office and now houses a small cultural and historical exhibition. The building dates from the 18th century, with deep verandas and a Caribbean roof, and is one of the better surviving examples of secular colonial architecture in Margarita.
The exhibition is short — an hour or so — and covers Pampatar's history as a port. The combination of the building, the small gallery, and the view from the upper veranda to the bay is the case for the visit.
