Skikda is in northeastern Algeria, about 60 km north-northeast of Constantine. The main approach for most visitors is via Constantine.
By train
The Algiers–Annaba mainline (SNTF) passes through or connects to Skikda, with services from Algiers taking around 6–7 hours. Constantine has good rail connections to Skikda. The train station is in the centre of town.
By bus
Regular bus services run from Constantine (around 1–1.5 hours), Annaba (around 1.5 hours), and Algiers. The bus station is convenient to the town centre. This is the most practical option from Constantine if you are using Skikda as a day trip from there.
By road
The N3 road connects Skikda to El Arrouch and then Constantine to the south. From Constantine it is a straightforward drive of around an hour through increasingly hilly and forested terrain as you approach the coast.
By air
Skikda Airport (SKI) is located about 5 km east of the city but has been closed. The nearest functioning airport is Constantine's Mohamed Boudiaf International Airport (CZL), with domestic connections to Algiers and some international routes.
