Skikda sits on the Mediterranean and has a string of beaches along the Gulf of Stora. The water is clear and the coast hilly, which keeps the beaches from being flat and crowded the way lowland resort beaches tend to be. Most are busy with Algerian families in July and August — outside those months you will often have them to yourself.
Stora beach, near the fishing village, is the most accessible from the city centre and popular with locals. Further east and west along the coast, smaller coves can be reached by taxi or on foot from the main road.
