Port and Bay of Stora

Stora is a village and small fishing port a few kilometres west of central Skikda, set at the far end of the Gulf of Stora where the bay curves in and the hills come down to the water. This was the original settlement — the Phoenician anchorage and then the Roman port of Rusicade — before the modern city expanded across the hillside above it.

The harbour today is a working fishing port, modest and unhurried. Wooden boats come in with the morning catch, and there are a few cafes along the waterfront where you can sit with coffee and watch the activity. The setting is genuinely attractive: the bay is calm, the hills are green, and the industrial complex is far enough away to feel absent. If the weather is good, this is the best place in Skikda to spend an afternoon.
