A small Zayyanid-era neighbourhood mosque tucked into a quiet corner of the medina, the Lalla Ghriba (or Mosque of El-Korran) is unobtrusive from outside but exceptional inside: a single small prayer hall with a carved plaster mihrab and a fine wooden ceiling. It is dedicated to a female saint and unusually retains the feminine name.
The mosque is still actively used. Non-Muslim visitors are sometimes welcome outside prayer times if you are accompanied by a local guide. The walk to it through the alleys north-east of the Great Mosque is one of the prettier introductions to the medina's everyday texture.
