Bibala Railway Station is the reason the town exists in its modern form. The settlement grew with the Mocamedes railway, which pushed inland from the coast and made this dry plateau town part of a wider southern transport corridor.
Do not expect a romantic museum station. This is a working piece of infrastructure, and its interest is in what it explains: how people, cattle, goods, and colonial administration moved between the Namibe coast and the Angolan interior. If you are passing through town, the station is the natural place to start reading Bibala's geography.
