The Serra da Leba approach is the dramatic road link between the Namibe lowlands and the high plateau. From Bibala municipality the route begins to gather height and purpose, eventually becoming the famous switchback road associated with Lubango and the Huila escarpment.
This is one of southern Angola's great drives, but it is still a real road rather than a theme-park viewpoint. Weather, trucks, road works, and local traffic all matter. Leave time to stop safely, and remember that the best views often come before or after the most photographed curves.
