Ouidah is 40 km west of Cotonou — Benin's commercial capital and the only city with an international airport. From the Cadjehoun airport (COO), a taxi to Ouidah takes about 90 minutes depending on traffic and costs in the region of CFA 25,000–35,000.
The cheapest option is a shared bush taxi or minibus (tro-tro equivalent) from Cotonou's Étoile Rouge junction, about CFA 1,500–2,500 per seat. Travel time is similar but the experience is rougher; the taxis leave when full. For day-tripping from Cotonou, hiring a car-and-driver for the day (around CFA 60,000) is the standard pattern.
There is no train service. The road west of Ouidah continues to Grand-Popo and on to the Togolese border at Hilakondji, about an hour further.
