The Cathédrale Notre-Dame de l'Immaculée Conception is the seat of the Archdiocese of Bobo-Dioulasso, a substantial twin-towered church built by the White Fathers and completed in the 1930s. It is the largest church in southwestern Burkina Faso, and on Sunday mornings the singing and the press of well-dressed parishioners are well worth catching.
The exterior mixes European church proportions with sun-baked colour and local stone. The interior is plain but quietly impressive, with stained-glass windows that come to life in mid-morning light. Visitors are welcome outside of service times; modest dress expected.
