Lycée Schorge

Francis Kéré-designed secondary school using local materials in a striking circular plan.

Lycée Schorge is a secondary school designed by Kéré Architecture, completed in 2016 south of central Koudougou. Its classroom modules are arranged around a central space, with locally sourced materials, a screen-like outer layer, and furniture made from local hardwoods and steel offcuts.

It is still a school, so treat it with restraint: do not wander in as if it were a museum. For architecture travellers, even an exterior look is worthwhile because it shows how contemporary Burkinabè building can be practical, climate-aware, and beautiful without looking imported.
