Getting There

Bangui M'Poko International Airport is 4 km from the city centre. Ethiopian Airlines, Air France, and several regional carriers serve Bangui with connections via Addis Ababa, Paris, and other African hubs. Direct flights to neighbouring countries are limited; most connections require transiting through a hub.

Overland travel to Bangui is extremely difficult and not recommended for most travellers. The roads connecting CAR to neighbouring countries are poorly maintained and pass through areas with significant security risks. Check current advisories carefully — the situation in the countryside can change rapidly.

Most international visitors to Bangui arrive on humanitarian, diplomatic, or business assignments with pre-arranged transport and security. Independent travellers who do come typically fly in and out.
