Ounianga offers almost nothing in the way of conventional tourism infrastructure, yet its single draw — the Lakes of Ounianga — is extraordinary enough to justify a serious expedition. The two lake groups, Ounianga Kébir and Ounianga Sérir, are the main focus. Beyond the lakes themselves, the surrounding dune landscapes and the sheer isolation are part of the experience.
