Mohéli Marine Park is the main reason Nioumachoua belongs on a Comoros itinerary. The protected area covers the mangroves, beaches, reefs, and islets around the village, with sea turtles, reef fish, and occasional dugong sightings among its conservation claims.
Use Nioumachoua as the base for boat trips and snorkeling rather than expecting a formal visitor centre experience. The park is best understood from the water.
