Cape Coast's drinking life is centred on the beachfront strip west of the castle and the streets around the university. Most bars are simple — a few plastic chairs on the sand or pavement, a chiller of Star and Club beer, music as loud as the owner can manage. The atmosphere is friendly and visitors are welcome.
For something quieter, several of the beachfront hotels and guesthouses have decent terraces open to non-residents.
