Sunyani Central Mosque

The main mosque in Sunyani, a visible landmark in the city centre

The Sunyani Central Mosque is the principal mosque in the city, serving the Muslim community of the Sunyani district. It is a prominent building in the city centre and reflects the significant Muslim population in the Bono Region — a legacy of Dyula and Hausa traders who settled across the Brong Ahafo area during the pre-colonial period.

The mosque is open to Muslim worshippers throughout the day and hosts Friday prayers that draw large congregations. Non-Muslim visitors are generally welcome outside prayer times with appropriate modest dress. The surrounding area of the city centre includes a cluster of provisions stores and small restaurants that serve the northern Ghanaian and Muslim community.
