Getting There

Dalaba is about 430 kilometres from Conakry by road — a journey that takes eight to ten hours by bush taxi, more in the rainy season when the road deteriorates. The bush taxi park in Conakry serves Dalaba with vehicles departing when full; expect to share a crowded car with locals and their luggage. The road from Mamou to Dalaba climbs steadily into the highlands and the scenery improves dramatically in the final stretch.

From Labé, the main city of the Fouta Djallon, Dalaba is about 90 kilometres to the south — one to two hours by bush taxi depending on conditions. Labé is better connected and may be easier to use as a staging point. There is no scheduled bus service; all long-distance travel is by shared taxi or private vehicle.
