When to Go

Dinguiraye sits in the tropical savanna zone of central Guinea. The dry season runs from November through April — hot, dusty, with the Harmattan wind from the Sahara — and is the easiest time to travel. The wet season from May to October brings heavy rains, transforming the savanna green but cutting roads.

The most significant time to visit is during the annual Tijani pilgrimage. The pilgrimage commemorates El Hadj Umar Tall and draws large crowds from across West Africa; accommodation is essentially impossible to find without local connections in those weeks.
