Central Market

The weekly market is held on Tuesday and is the biggest event in the town's economic life — traders come in from villages on both sides of the Ghana border, and the languages overheard include Dyula, Kulango, Twi, Hausa, and French. Goods range from local agricultural produce (yams, cassava, kola nuts) to cloth, plastic ware, and smuggled electronics from Ghana.

The daily market is smaller but still worth a wander — head for the spice stalls, the fresh shea butter (sold in small balls wrapped in leaves), and the women selling locally roasted cashews and sesame seeds.
