Derna sits on the coastal road in eastern Libya, east of Susa and Apollonia and west of Tobruk. The usual overland approach from Benghazi passes through the Jebel Akhdar towns, though travel times depend heavily on checkpoints and road conditions.
Public transport should not be relied on for planning. Arrange transport through a local operator or contact, and check whether reconstruction work has changed access into the city centre.
