Things to Do

Qasr Libya is a one-destination village: you come for the Byzantine Museum and its extraordinary sixth-century mosaics, discovered in the ruins of two churches excavated in the 1950s. Beyond the museum, the surrounding Jebel Akhdar plateau offers some of the most pleasant scenery in Libya — juniper-covered hills, old Berber villages, and a cooler climate than the coast. The area is safe and relatively accessible by Libyan standards, though road conditions and political stability should be checked before travel.
