Jefren lies in the western mountains south-west of Tripoli. The drive climbs from the coastal plain into the Nafusa range and is usually arranged by private vehicle as part of a guided itinerary through Gharyan, Jefren, Nalut, or Ghadhames.
Public transport can be sporadic and is not practical for most visitors. Road conditions and checkpoints change, so let a local operator handle the current route planning.
